video intercoms · blocks of flats · fobs and codes · barriers

See who's at the door. Open it from your phone too.

A video intercom with an app for your house, a new intercom for a block entrance over the existing cable, fobs and keypad codes for the office. A barrier for the car park. One clear figure — per house, per flat or per barrier — and the paperwork once it's installed. We also repair old intercoms, €30 an hour.

What this figure is. A guide price for a standard job: the panel goes on the entrance door, cable runs are up to 15 m, installation is on a working day. It isn't a quote — you get the quote within 24 hours from a photo; for offices and barriers, after a site visit. Access control tells you who comes in; after hours the premises are protected by an alarm system.

02Block entrance

One sheet for the meeting. Not a debate on the stairs.

The intercom from the 80s: half the handsets are dead, the door doesn't lock, and everyone waits for ‘someone to fix it’. We work out the cost per flat and put it on one sheet the building manager takes to the residents' meeting.

1What we need from the building manager
  • number of flats and how many of them will have a handset or a monitor
  • photo of the panel from the front, and of the box with the control unit — usually in the basement or next to the board
  • photo of the door — what lock it has and whether it closes by itself
2How it goes
  1. the photos → the meeting sheet within 24 hours
  2. the meeting decides; signatures for the flats that have paid
  3. installation in a day or two over the existing cable, no chasing in the stairwell
  4. fobs handed over against signature; the register stays with the building manager
3If someone doesn't pay

The panel, lock and fobs work for everyone — it's a shared door. A handset or monitor goes to each flat that has paid; it can also be added later, at the same price per flat.

03Car park

The barrier knows the car. Or the fob. Or the remote.

For the car park of a block of flats, a complex, an office or a hotel. The loop in the tarmac senses the car, the camera reads the number plate, the boom lifts in seconds and lowers by itself. You choose who can open it; here's what happens at the entrance.

who opens:

The car stops in front of the boom. The loop in the tarmac senses it — from that moment the barrier knows a car is there.

  1. 1The induction loopa wire in a slot cut into the tarmac; it senses the car and opens and closes without anyone pressing anything
  2. 2The number plate camerareads plates from 3–5 m and lets in only registered cars; the list is yours, no subscription

04What goes wrong

Old intercom not ringing? We'll tell you what's wrong before we come out.

We also come out to systems we didn't install. From a photo of the panel and the handset we tell you what's most likely wrong and what it will cost. Site visit €15, deducted from the quote; labour €30 an hour.

05What you get

The fobs have a register. The codes, an envelope.

We don't just say ‘done’ and leave after installation. We leave the paperwork you need to run the system for years to come — you, not us.

  • Fob registerwhich fob belongs to which flat or employee, date, status. A lost fob is blocked in a minute — no need to change the lock.
  • Codes in a sealed envelopethe door code and the admin code — on paper, kept by the building manager or the owner.
  • Wiring diagrampanel, control unit, distributors, which cable goes where — on the box door and in the passport.
  • App instructionsone page: how to answer a call, how to open the door, how to add a second phone.
  • Test report and warrantylines, lock and barrier tested; 24 months installation warranty, equipment as per the manufacturer; contract and invoice.
  • Level A passportall of the above in your account, with a QR sticker in the control unit box.

06How it goes

From the first photo to signing for the fobs.

Five steps. For a house, the figure comes from the photo; for an office, after a site visit. For a block entrance — the meeting sheet. For a barrier — a site visit (€15, deducted from the quote), because the foundation and the power supply can only be judged on site.

  1. For 24 flats, an audio system with code and key fobs comes to ≈ €121–€122 per flat: door panel, control unit, a handset in every flat, electric strike, two fobs per flat, installation over the existing cable. Video with a monitor in every flat — ≈ €264–€280. The figure for your entrance is on the sheet for the residents' meeting.

    Make the sheet
  2. In most entrances, yes: two-wire systems run over the existing intercom wiring, with no chasing in the stairwell. We test it before quoting. If a line is broken, we run a new cable to that flat only (€31–€59) — and you're told before installation, not after.

  3. Yes, with an app-based system (from €588 for a house). You need internet at home; if the internet goes down, the monitor still works — your phone just won't ring. For a block entrance: a panel with code and fob for everyone, plus the app for flats that want it.

  4. The panel and monitors switch off; the electric strike stays locked and the door opens with a key as usual. If you want, we can add backup power for the panel and the lock. The barrier has a manual key release so it can be lifted by hand.

  5. Ordinary 125 kHz fobs can be copied at any key-cutting shop. So wherever the system allows, we fit Mifare fobs, which are hard to copy, and keep a register: a lost fob is blocked in a minute — no need to change the lock.

  6. A video intercom shows a picture when someone rings; it doesn't record continuously. If the building wants recording as well, that's CCTV — with a sign and rules — and we cover it on the cameras page.

    CCTV
  7. The panel, lock and fobs are shared and work for everyone — it's a shared door. A handset or monitor goes to each flat that has paid; it can be added later at the same per-flat price. The sheet is calculated for the flats that have paid.

    Block entrances
  8. Yes, including ones we didn't install. From a photo of the panel and handset we can tell you the most likely fault; labour is €30 per hour, parts extra. For systems from the 90s with no parts available, we'll tell you honestly that the panel or handsets need replacing — rather than hunting for parts for months.

    What tends to fail
  9. A barrier with an arm up to 4 m, two remotes, photocells, power supply and installation — from €2,394; the concrete base is priced after a site visit. Fob or card access for residents + €321–€440, induction loop — after a site visit, number plate recognition (LPR) + from €949. A second barrier for the exit costs the same again.

    Price your car park
  10. We always fit photocells — the arm won't come down while there's a car under it. An induction loop is optional: it closes the barrier automatically once the car has passed, with no one pressing anything. The arm is aluminium with a rubber strip underneath.

  11. A house — half a day. A block entrance with 24–30 flats — a day or two over the existing cable. An office — half a day per door. A barrier — a day, plus two days beforehand for the concrete to set.

  12. 24 months on the installation; equipment is covered by the manufacturer. Payment after installation, with a contract and invoice — in your name for a house, in the name of the owners' association for a block entrance.
